One woman we interviewed in her late 30s was indeed struggling for years to obtain a committed mate, partly because dating apps created an endless cycle of hookups followed by quick breakups. But she came across someone at the beginning of the pandemic, when it had been impossible to satisfy in-person, and informed me that longer telephone and FaceTime discussions set a very good foundation for a life threatening union.
